Love Blooms at the `Cornish Cottage was an absolute dream of a book, just as I knew it would be.  Michelle, lives in the delightful Sandpiper Shore has a strong friendship circle with Jo and Emma.  The threesome really are a force to be reckoned with, the sort of friendship we all should have.  They give each other support, kindness and honesty - straight talking at times but removed at others, somehow they each know when and what to say, or when to allow space -they really do have each others backs.  This novel, Kim’s third in the serious Sandpipere - Cove has Michelle as the central character.

Michelle couldn’t be happier, she thinks she’s settled nicely, all loved up with Demetri her work-aholic Greek doctor, and reticently planning to move to Greece to his family home since his mother had had a stroke.  Enter stage right, her sixth sense, ‘Katrina’ and Demetri’s brother Makkis just as Demetri has headed to Greece alone.

The whole book buzzed with static and had an edginess that replicated the inner turmoil Michelle was feeling as things got decidedly messy in her head as Makkis seriously stirs the pot leaving her with more questions than answers that only a trip to Greece can solve.

This made for a lot of inner turmoil that was palpable and evoked many emotions and thoughts as I walked the path with Michelle. Each and every book Kim Nash has written gets better and better, I was totally sucked in and lost a day of my life curled up on the sofa lost in the life of Michelle. I was fully invested in the story, forming my own opinions, silently talking out loud, willing Michelle to see what I was seeing - I absolutely adore the friendship group she has and ‘Cocks on Friday’ is something we should all strive for and as is always the case Kim has not only nailed the characters but also the locations too.  She takes us to locations I want to visit and usually scour Right-move so I can move there too.  Reading a Kim Nash book could cost you serious money!

I can’t wait for my Next Kim Nash fix this was an absolute dream of a book. This truly was a very touching book and an absolute joy to read.

My thoughts…

Kim Nash is in the wrong job! She should be an Estate Agent! This is the second book in the Sandpiper series and yet again I found myself scouring Rightmove - the settings for all of her books are in the sorts of places that you know would be absolutely perfect to live in, all with strong communities at the heart of them.

This book centres around Emma, she is recently widowed and has tucked herself away in her little cottage by the sea and is trying to slowly rebuild her life. She has new friends Jo and Michelle and it’s on a night out with them that finds her unexpectedly facing her past in more ways than one. She’s somehow roped into directing the local pantomime, at the same time she unexpectedly crosses paths with her ex. An experience that seems more painful than the recent death of her partner.

The importance of female friendship and community spirit is never more powerful than in Life Begins at the Cornish Cottage. We see Jo and Michelle and a whole community - well all bar one cantankerous wee soul, stepping in to support and prop her up , wrap her in cotton wool and then deliver tough love, to drive her forward and discover what makes her tick. This truly is a heart warming, up beat novel that strives to show the power of friendship and community - its them that gets Emma through on her darkest days.

This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world it was a perfect little bit of escapism.
There is a feeling that is common with each of Kim’s books, it’s that feeling of sadness as you reach the last few pages, not wanting the story to end, then wanting to go straight back to the beginning after you’ve turned the final page to re-live it all again.

There really is nothing worse than asking an author whose new book you’ve just read when I can get my hands on the next one but……….. Kim, come on - when can I get my hands on the next one!!!

My thoughts…

This is Kim Nash’s third book in the idyllic Cornish cove series. This is a community so lush you hanker after upping sticks and moving there. How lovely was it to be back in this beautiful community with all the fabulous characters from books 1 and 2 - I so want to move here!

Lydia and her daughter Meredith are the key characters in Making Memories at the Cornish Cove. Lydia having moved to Driftwood Bay to be closer to her daughter Meredith, who we met in book 1 when she arrived with a bang as the new owner of a run down lighthouse.

I was instantly dragged into their relationship, which was tentative and built on uneven footings to say the least. Lydia having left the upbringing of Meredith to her mother, Merediths grandmother, whilst she moved away, living her life from a distance, and getting through husbands at a rate of knots - five in total- that was some going!

Surprisingly, considering the character that Lydia was in the life before we meet her in Driftwood Bay, I really liked her from the off.  Having reached her 70’s and determined to right past wrongs and make it up to Meredith, we the reader walk the tentative path with her as she gets to know the absolutely gorgeous character that Meredith is. They respectfully danced around each other as they got to know the things about each other, the things that others take for granted having learnt them over a lifetime.

As with books 1 and 2, book 3 is all about friendship, kindness and a community that comes together to hold each other up when needed. The supporting cast of characters in this story are just as delightful. In this story Kim Nash touched a few raw nerves for me, I could have been reading about myself when reading about the things Meredith was feeling and suffering with on her own, I’m sure there other women of a certain age out there who will have felt the same. Both Clem and her mum proving to be the rock she needed, supporting her and being there at just the right time, whilst keeping a respectful distance too.

The pages of this delightful story are filled with sadness and heartache but as ever peppered with humour and kindness, as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality. I absolutely loved it. I particularly loved the friendship that grew between Martin, Clems widowed dad and Lydia as they become tentative dance partners after entering a competition. It really was an uplifting read.

I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is definitely her best yet. I said that last time when I read book 2 but this one really is the best yet!!!! This was a truly, touching story that spanned the ages and was a joy to read. Through Meredith and Lydia, Kim shows that it’s never too late to build bridges and mend fractured relationships with love, kindness and an open heart. This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world this was a perfect little bit of escapism with more than a touch of reality.

My thoughts…

This is Kim Nash’s second book set in an idyllic Cornish cove, with a community so lush you hanker after upping sticks and moving there, just as Meredith did when she bought a lighthouse to live in, in the first book Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove.

Imagine how delighted I was to be taking a trip back there with Gemma as the central character this time. Gemma is running the local cafe with plans to expand into the building next door.  She wants to build upon the legacy left by her mum who ran the cafe at the heart of community and make her proud. Her mum managed the business as well as bringing up Gemma and her sister Lucy single handed and had made the cafe a haven for people of all ages, everyone welcome as she dished out comfort in the form of food and a listening ear.  Gemma is quite anxious about living up to her mums legacy, she’s anxious about changing things and hasn’t really changed anything up to now, not wanting to let go of what her mum created. 

The gorgeous Clem who we met in the first book in this series renovated the lighthouse and is now in a relationship with its owner Meredith, is doing the building works, sharing his vision and guiding Gemma through the inevitable disruption, doing the work in an order that the disruption is minimised until the very last moment. Bringing in firefighter Jude to inspect and an advise on fire safety, sets off a few sparks. 

Gemma knows she is going to need more help in the cafe in readiness for the expansion and that comes in the form of Occy who literally crashed through the door.  This was a delightful relationship that as a reader was a joy to read,  It turns out Occy is Judes daughter and has an almost Jekyll and Hyde appearance - sweetness and light with Gemma but obnoxious and rude with her dad.  Gemma finds herself becoming the shoulder to lean on for Occy just as her mum had been for many others.

Gemma and Lucy share a close bond, each of them there for each other, I’d have loved to have had a sister, the depth of their bond was a delight to read. Lucy is there for Gemma whenever she needs her but Gemma is conscious of the fact her sister has enough to do with the bed and breakfast she runs as well as being heavily present. 

The pages of this delightful story are peppered with emotion, anxiety, sadness, humour, love and hope  - as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality.  I absolutely loved it.  Strong friendships both old and new are formed. Kim Nash always weaves characters in her books in such a way that you can’t help but form an instant bond and sit quietly in the corner sending good vibes and wishes for the inevitable romance.  This book has a depth that is greater than a fledgling romance, it digs deep into relationships both past and present and seeing the main cast of this story Gemma, Occy and Jude grow and develop was very moving, each having their own back story and all supported by the cast of the community.  What’s presented on the outside isn’t always what it seems, each of them had built protective shells that were peeled away as the pages were turned.

I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is another level, I said her last book, the first in the series, was her best yet but this is another level!!  It is her BEST YET and I can’t wait for the next one. This was a truly, heart warming story, Kim Nash has nailed it as a Romance author, having got the cocktail of reality and dreams just right.

Imagine waking up to find, in a drunken moment you’d bought a lighthouse of all things. I had a friend once that bought a hostess trolley whilst drunk - you guessed it, when it arrived it was for a dolls house, how we laughed!!! Meredith had been living with her childhood, best friend Gabby for the past 12 months since getting a divorce from her husband, life was changing for best friend and Meredith needed to move out to give her space so decided to move to Cornwall and live in the accidental purchase. She thought that it would be the perfect fresh start and just what she needed.  

Meredith had surprised not just herself, but her friends too when she packed up and upped sticks.  What couldn’t be more idyllic than living near the beach she thought?  However, her first impressions of the idyllic coastal Cornish town were watered down, when after the journey from hell, her first encounters with the locals were less than pleasant and her beloved furniture that had been in storage for a year wouldn’t fit through the door of the lighthouse - what had she done?!  To top it off she’d clearly been sold a pup!  To say the inside of the lighthouse was less than pleasant would be an understatement, filthy, crumbling and damp smelling - what had she done?

Fortunately, for Meredith, she found that not all the villagers were stand-offish and rude. Gemma, the owner of the local cafe/bakery waltzed into the lighthouse bearing tea and cake at just the right moment - sing singing a welcome to Cornwall. They hit it off instantly and this set in motion a string of events that had me oohing, ahhing, aching laughing and cringing in equal measures.  

The pages of this delightful story are peppered with humour and often laugh out loud one liners - as well as what you always find in a Kim Nash book, a hearty helping of truth and reality.  I absolutely loved it.  Strong friendships both old and new.  Kim Nash has woven the local characters into this story in such a way that I found myself jumping up, wanting to stick my oar in and get in Merediths or ‘Mere’ as the local carpenter/odd job man calls her corner.  I might have frantically searched Rightmove too - I want to move to Cornwall and make friends with everyone too but most of all i want to live in a lighthouse.

I have loved all of Kim’s books but this one is another level, her best yet which I read in one sitting, barely moving position - my coffee going cold on the side.  Thank you for this breath of fresh air, just what the doctor ordered on a miserable Friday evening.  This was a truly, heart warming story that wove a lot of sunshine into my heart. Through Meredith, Kim portrayed that kindness, openness and honesty win the day. This was a positive feel good book that I’m glad I had the opportunity to read, in a busy world a perfect little bit of escapism.

My thoughts…

Oh my goodness, Moonlight over Muddleford Cove is Kim Nash’ fourth book and equally as dreamlike as each of the others. I was instantly transported into the pages of the book, totally invested in the plot and characters and felt like I was settling down for a catch up with my friends. 

Kim writes feel-good, uplifting stories written from the heart that centre around family and friendship and reading one of her books is like taking the best tonic a doctor could ever prescribe. The characters in a Kim Nash novel are diverse and all play an integral part to the plot, she digs below the surface, exposing real people who live their life the way they do because of past events - they're not overly simplistic or too complex and Kim covers emotional, roller coaster moments with tenderness and insight whilst moving the book along at such a pace that the positive moments are the main focus.

Moonlight over Muddleford Cove centres around Nellie, a girl who had it all - that is until her life is turned on its head when she loses both the love of her life, her job and is summoned back to Dorset for a will reading on the death of her Auntie Lil - all in the space of one short week. Nellie plans a quick trip but isn’t prepared for what greets her in Dorset.

You can’t help but feel for Nellie, she’s fragile and returning to Dorset means facing her past, what she doesn’t expect is quite what an emotional trip it turns out to be and finding herself the beneficiary of her Aunts estate means there’s decisions to be made. Dorset holds memories both good and bad and she’s not sure it’s a place she wants to be until childhood pal and ex boyfriend Jack enters stage left! Drool, drool!! There’s also Norman, adored by her Aunt but someone Nellie didn’t even know about, she’s not sure how she feels about that but upon meeting him becomes equally as attached and takes him straight to her heart, just as her aunt did.  In fact it’s Norman that is the catalyst for a lot of decisions Nellie makes about her future.

I loved how her friendship with Jack reverted back to their youth, their easy camaraderie and ease with each other but, there’s one problem they are both different people now and Jack is not a free agent, something he doesn’t seem to be all that clear about, this is something that causes turmoil for Nellie. She has settled into the community, loves the beach which gives her space to walk and think but not everyone is making her feel welcome! Should she pack up and return to the Midlands, the emotional juggling bounced off the pages. 

The turmoil and emotions were realistic to read, Kim took us on a rollercoaster of a ride as we lived the highs and lows of Nellies life. The hurt and anguish tempered with fun, laughter and humour. The highs and lows of the life changing decisions she had to make. Love and friendship outshining the greyer moments.

It was a book I didn’t want to end and another book that had me reaching for the brochures. Oh, to rent a cottage on the beach, to sit and drink fizz watching the sunset from a beach hut - to be part of a community that once they’ve took you under their wings always had your back would be just amazing. Kim you are both a travel agent and an estate agents dream - your descriptions sell locations, the pictures in my mind clearer than any image in a brochure I’ve ever flicked through. 

I have no hesitation recommending Moonlight over Muddleford Cove or any of Kim’s previous three novels for that matter. Within pages of opening any of Kim’s books I guarantee you will be totally invested into the lives of all the characters, you’ll feel the tension of your everyday life unfurl as you virtually join the characters on their journey and settle into the easy comradeship of long established friendships, sharing secrets, giving and taking advice and will forget that these are not your real friends but characters in a book. Kim not only creates strong, lead characters but also necessary, believable, supporting characters that add depth to every story.

She really knows how to give you a little bit of everything, her books will make you smile, at times laugh out loud, there are tender moments and some hard hitting scenarios too. But one thing that is common with each is that feeling of sadness as you reach the last few pages, not wanting the story to end, the wanting to go straight back to the beginning after you’ve turned the final page so you can re-live it all again. Oh and I forgot to mention, there’s usually a hunk or two to drool over too!

Sunshine and Second Chances is Kim Nash’s third novel and is an absolute lush of a book, it’s just lovely, lovely, lovely!

It was a story about four friends who pledged on a shared holiday celebrating their 21st birthdays that no matter what they were doing with their lives they’d meet up and do the same again for their 50th birthdays.

Olivia, Samantha, Debs and Fiona are living quite different lives and each of them are at a point when they need to step back to take stock, for different reasons they each need and dread this holiday in equal measures.  They arranged to meet in the airport in Faro, Portugal and when they do the last twenty nine years are stripped away as if they have never happened.  

I got to spend a week virtually eating, drinking and lazing in the sunshine with the girls as they unwound and relaxed, the tensions of their everyday lives unfurling out of them as they settled into the easy comradeship of long established friendships, sharing secrets, giving and taking advice and remembering what true friendship is all about.

This was a dream of a book, perfect for the lazy Sunday I spent reading in the unaccustomed sunshine in my back garden in England.  I could have quite quickly packed my case and joined them in a heartbeat - in fact I started looking at travel agents websites for villas in Portugal as soon as I closed the final page.

Kim has captured the very essence and importance of slowing down, giving and sharing quality time with friends.  Good friends truly are the best tonic anyone could have and Kim has captured that essence perfectly.  Her descriptions of the villa and surrounding towns are so vivid I could imagine walking out of my patio door and onto the terrace to join the ladies for a gin and tonic before dinner.  Or sitting in a pretty harbour eating at sunset - I’m smiling just writing this remembering!  I loved all of the characters and was thoroughly engaged with their stories and so wanted happy endings for them all.  

This is a perfect, feel good read that will will wrap itself around you and warm your heart.  I’ll defy any reader not to be trawling the travel brochures looking for holidays to Portugal after reading this and the next time I’m feeling a bit jaded or low because the skies are grey and I’m cooped up inside I’m going to take this book and re-read to lift my spirits.

Huge thanks Kim for writing such a belter of a book, I can see so much of you in this book, you really have put your heart and soul in it and I’m honoured to count you as one of my friends - we don’t get to see each other too often but when we do it’s like we saw each other yesterday.
